… doesn’t really do squat for me and the fact that I don’t particularly like apples has nothing to do with it whatsoever! Since I moved to Dubai, I often get asked why I seem to spend more time at home than I actually do in Dubai. The answer is quite simple really – I have regular dates with my Rheumatologist. Yes, I suffer from Rheumatoid Arthritis or RA for those in the know OR people like me who still aren’t quite sure how to spell it! While I never imagined that my condition would ever be a topic of discussion on my blog, it is as much a part of me as everything else – it just doesn’t live in a happy place.
Day 527 • Thursday • 14 Jan 16 • Today’s High 23º
Is it too far into January to still say Happy New Year? Let’s just say Happy Newish Year then!
As Poss and I celebrated New Year at home last year, this time we thought we’d experience Dubai’s spectacular display – a domino effect of fireworks that were going to light up the night sky across multiple locations. And although it would be physically impossible to follow this fireworks trail, even with a jet pack strapped to your back, there’s still nothing quite like seeing it “live”, so one location would have to do.
Day 495 • Sunday • 13 Dec 15 • Today’s High 25º
… the ironing board! So I just got back to Dubai and I know I keep harping on about the blooming ironing but I just hate it so damn much! I even have a schedule down pat that minimizes how much ironing I need do each week – miss a week and all hell breaks loose!
Day 443 • Thursday • 22 Oct 15 • Today’s High 34º
… ok, not quite a giant leap for mankind but a pretty big leap for me. Because today, I had to face a fear head on and do something I haven’t done in about fifteen years – I boarded a flight solo. Yep, silly as it may sound, this little Diva who flew on planes before she could walk, studied overseas and has traveled for a good part of her life, has a fear of flying! A fear bad enough that I always have to have someone with me whenever I fly. And while I know that the person with me can’t technically “do” anything, being able to dig your fingernails into someone’s arm and squeeze so tight until they lose all feeling is quite calming indeed – well, maybe not for the person who belongs to the arm.
Day 200 • Saturday • 21 Feb 15 • Today’s High 33º
While being overseas experiencing new adventures is exciting & all, being away from family really sucks. And the one thing I dread above everything is the unexpected phone call, because the news on the other end is often less than pleasant.
Day 197 • Wednesday • 18 Feb 15 • Today’s High 32º
Poss & I absolutely love hot dogs, even going so far as ranking it up there with Nasi Lemak. Whenever we’re in London, one of the few restaurants we like to pop into is bubbledogs – an oh so trendy little champagne & gourmet hot dog bar in Charlotte Street. This place is so popular, we often line-up like eager beavers before it even opens just to make sure we get a table. Yep, even Divas have to queue sometimes.
