Happy New Year! I’m happy to say that I woke up this morning without feeling like I’d been run over by a truck; New Year Resolution #1 – Check! Actually, that’s the only one I made for 2015. I’m not big into New Year Resolutions because I just don’t want that kinda pressure. Plus, I believe you don’t need to wait for a New Year to ‘reinvent’ yourself. Like they say, “Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today”.
2014 seems like such a blur now. I guess that’s what happens when you wake up one day, halfway across the world and it ain’t coz you’re on a holiday. To think how I cried my eyeballs out those first few weeks! Once the dust had (literally) settled though, I realised it wasn’t that bad – at least I was in a good part of the desert. And being an expat diva wife is much like being a princess with pocket money, so it’s all good.
I think the funniest thing I’ve learned is that Poss and I not only like each other as people but enjoy hanging out with each other too. Yes, it only took almost 10 years of marriage to figure that out – my mates think it’s hilarious! I know it sounds strange but when you suddenly get uprooted and have to deal with a whole new environment with only each other for company day in, day out – that makes for some really intense one on one time. Believe me when I say that I had visions of us swinging from the chandelier trying to kill each other by now, like that scene in War of the Roses! That’s not to say there was no drama, we’re just lucky we don’t actually own a chandelier.
So thankfully, still in one piece, we ushered in the New Year at a friend’s soirée in KL, all dressed up of course. I was just glad to not be fighting the club crowds or spending New Year stuck in a traffic jam I can tell ya! It was fab catching up with everyone and actually being able to hear them.
2015 is a milestone year for Poss & I – we celebrate our 10 year anniversary in May and I’m looking forward to all the little adventures Dubai and beyond will bring us. My only hope is that 2015 will be kind to us all. Think happy thoughts!
